Intimidate/intimidating

Question

This may be one of the words that doesn't quite translate and needs a substitute/equivalent in Spanish. The only one I have been told is to use avasallar/avasallador(a). But they mean more "overwhelm/ing." I suppose it's the same idea but I was wondering if there's something better.

"It intimidates me to speak Spanish to people that are also fluent in English."

"I find it very intimidating to go somewhere where I don't know anyone."

"Don't let her intimidate you! That's what she wants!" etc.

If you check the dictionary, you'll find, 'intimidar'.

Verbo transitivo 1. intimidar to intimidate somebody into doing something -> intimidar a alguien para que haga algo

Other ways of saying intimidate include: poner o causar miedo o temor; aterrar, espantar.

Wait, i know what it was-I couldn't find a translation for "intimidating," so I guess I didn't bother looking for a verb, since in most cases it would be some form of the verb + -ante or =oso/a. So is the best translation for intimidating "avallasador/a"?
