G A M E The Subjunctive & Emotion
Emotion & The Subjunctive
Although emotion is by no means the only main clause that produces the subjunctive in the subordinate clause, (when there's a change of subject), it is one of the ones that does.
This game is designed to get us used to following verbs of emotion by a subordinate subjunctive clause, when a change of subject is involved.
In layman's terms - if the first part of your sentence expresses surprise, fear, joy, pity, happiness, warmth or colour then put the verb in the second part of your sentence into the subjunctive mood.
Eg: Me alegro de que vengas. I'm happy that you're coming.
A little trap for young players, remember to watch out for verbs which need 'de' after them and include it in your sentence ![]()
How to form the present tense of the subjunctive - use this for sentences describing the present and future.
How to form the imperfect subjunctive - use this for sentences describing the past.
How to play - click on newest, retype the given spanish sentence, translate it into English, give a new sentence in Spanish with the main clause using an emotion and the subordinate clause including a change of subject and using the subjunctive.
