Just a few tips for anyone thinking about creating a user-created flashcard: 1. If you put quotes " " in the title the flashcard will not work. 2. Most of the time there will be no sound for the "listen section" if there is a slash / in the answer. 3. An answer with the el,la combo in front of the noun and a,o combo after the noun messes up the voice when listening to the pronunciation.I hope these few tips will help. Also please see the comment below that was given by Izanonil1.

You might want to mention that it is also a good idea to check to make sure that there are no extra spaces at the beginning of a word because this seems to be an extremely common reason for why the audio fails on many peoples flashcards.

Or at the end, which often happens if you double-click, copy, and paste. - KevinB, Dec 4, 2010

Also, it is a good idea to put in the definite articles on the nouns ( the el and the la) You are going to have to learn them anyway, so you might as well start at the beginning. If you are finding that a word is not translating out in Spanish, try putting a the in front of it on the English side. This is also a way to get your definite articles.

For some reason, the number 10 has not been translation to diez. You might just have to write that in. If you see a word that is the same in English and Spanish, check your spelling. The translator will do that if you misspell a work or leave out an accent.

Many flashcards are being made without the proper accents. This will not help you in school. Try to make sure you have your accents right. It is a good idea to run through your sets before you release them.

Also if you paste your flashcards, double check with Izanoni's suggestion with the spaces at the beginning and the ends of the words.

Yes, words definitely need to be written with their proper accents - Izanoni1, Dec 4, 2010
I think you meant to write "el" not "él" :-) - Stadt, Dec 4, 2010
Yes, sorry - sanlee, Dec 4, 2010
The accents are important on the flashcards also because the words don't sound right without them - Stadt, Dec 4, 2010

Also, for beginners, there's no need to type in the translations. Simply hit the arrow bar between the words and the autotranslator will put it in for you. This will stop there from being so many mistakes in the cards for beginners.

Two additional points:

Put the English words in the English column and the Spanish words in the Spanish column- they are labeled on the top. The words are very difficult to identify if pronounced with the wrong pronunciation rules, and it does not help in learning them.

Do not put the same words more than once in a column. For instance if one entry is to have--tener, and the next to have--haber, when tener comes up and you have two "to have" answers, how do you know which to pick?

Another point: if you are not sure the answer being created is right- look at the definition before you use it. For instance the automatic for lime is "cal"- which the the product you put on your yard when you "lime" it to get rid of acid soil, not the fruit.

And, if the audio fails, sometimes if you hit the little sound icon the audio will pop in. Not sure why, but have just noticed it to be true.
