En España no he oído jamás esa palabra. Según la Real Academia española "menso" o "mensa" significa " tonto" en algunos países latinoamericanos como Méjico.

I have heard "menso"used quite a bit in Mexico (specifically in the state of Jalisco). It means "tonto" or and does not carry a terribly mean feeling to it, at least not when I have heard it.

Menso means stupid or foolish. I however, have heard stupido and tonto used more by Spanish speakers on tv than menso. I do not know if menso is a slang word.

The word "menso" or "mensa" is a slang word. In Latinoamerica . This word comes from Mexico. There is a popular Mexican comedian, teen oriented tv production launched in the 70's named "El chavo del Ocho" than often used the word "menso" as foolish in a comedian way. The origin of the word must come from an ironic reference for members of "Mensa International" commented by our friend Echoline, founded in England year 1946. Being a Mensans (members of mensa society) could be a menso in Mexico. Lol
