how can tiempo be the word for weather and time ?
I am getting two answers for the word tiempo, which is correct, time or weather

One is "El tiempo"..
Both are correct. Just as English has many words with multiple meanings, so does Spanish. And just as in English, you can tell from the context which is correct.
Welcome to the site!
el tiempo pasa = time passes
el tiempo dirá = time will tell
perder el tiempo = to waste time
no hay tiempo que perder = there's no time to lose
no tenemos mucho tiempo = we don't have much time
tiempo libre = spare time
hace buen tiempo = the weather is good
si el tiempo lo permite = weather permitting
This should clear up the difference between tiempo and el tiempo.
There are also other defintions for tiempo besides weather and time.
