I am a native English speaker and am using Spanishdict to learn Spanish. I would love a section containing a short story or two in Spanish using only the vocabulary and grammar from Learn Spanish 1, Learn Spanish 2, etc. After completing a section, it would be rewarding to be able to read something without having to look up every other word. Instant gratification! Heiditia's Pepa exercises are great but rely on English to Spanish. I enjoy trying to read other user's responses that are in Spanish but sometimes it can be rather challenging.
All in All, a fantastic site!
I thought the suggestion in another thread about including short stories and translating them into both english and spanish was a good idea.
A separate issue where I think there is a lot of room for improvement is fixing errors in the flashcards. I have thought about this and I think there is a simple way of fixing these that would require minimal work for the administrators. Why not give users with sufficient reputation the ability to fix any errors found in the flashcards? This should only require some minor tweaking of the script for the website. We already give users the ability to edit other peoples posts and even reference articles once they reach a certain level in reputation so why not flashcards? I know I for one get very irritated when I find errors and I want so badly to fix them but I can't do it. I haven't seen this discussed before. What does anyone else think?
SD is a great site but I think if we had a composition section after each lesson
it would be very helpful ![]()
I love this site! I would like to see sentence flashcards where you can hear the whole sentence. Short sentences work already but not long ones and we could enhance our word of the day to include a sentence of the day.
Perhaps a weekly audio podcast or a frequently updated blog from the administrators talking about various things related to the (Spanish) language and language learning. And maybe a Shetland pony. Yeah, that would be good.
Any more ideas?
All good ideas so far. I've been getting a lot of benefit from answering questions in Spanish. I've gotten very, very rusty. I'm trying to think of some way we could incorporate submitting very short written works, other than just posting them here for a critique. I know how time consuming it is to check someone else's work.
