Do you mean the food pantry that you have in your house or the one you go to to get free food if you do not have money to buy groceries? - sagiia, Aug 12, 2010
I have only ever heard of the first one :) - FELIZ77, Aug 12, 2010
i meant like the kind where you get food at discounted price or donated to you from a church because you don't have a lot of money - ummm_tfl, Aug 12, 2010

I called a Puerto 'Rican friend of mine and she said it is called "pantrí de comida" which I'll admit is spanglish, but it is how it is called here in Milwaukee by the hispanic community. I suspect dispensa de comida would be a more correct way to say it, but do not know anyone who actually says it that way.

Aha! Good job, nice to have resources handy isn't it (Puerto Rican friends!) - margaretbl, Aug 12, 2010
I think it just goes to show that somethings can really vary from one community to the next. If you are trying to serve a certain community, then it is best to find out how it is said in that place. - sagiia, Aug 12, 2010
ie. Do they have food pantries in Mex. or other countries? How are they called there? - sagiia, Aug 12, 2010

Well if it is like food stamps then 'bonos de despensa' That might be like a food voucher that some companies give out. The actual place, I agree, must be 'la despensa'.
