difficulties with the interpretation of "estar en la luna (figurative)"
hey people
In video 1.11 I found an expression; but I am not entirely sure how to interpret it. "estar en la luna (figurative) = to be miles away / to be out of it"
In which way should I use it? not paying attention/having a daydream not being realistic having no understanding of something acting strange
I hope you can help me
greetings
P.S. ¿Estoy en la luna? :p

Hi and welcome to the forum.
It's to "have your head in the clouds" or "I was miles away," just like the expression that uses "nubes."
Estar en las nubes = To have one's head in the clouds.
It could mean that you are delighted as in over the moon as we say in english' and as it is a sentiment i.e. a way that you are feeling at a given time you would use the verb estar rather than ser.
thx both of you
so if you are in love you can also say, estoy en la luna ![]()
"Spacing out"
A curiosity,in Valencia (Spain) the normal is change "Estar en la luna" for "Estar a la luna de Valencia"
