What does "sip" mean?

When I talk to my costarican friends on facebook they say "sip" instead of "si". Does anyone know what this means? I have never noticed them pronouncing it like that, is it internet slang? When I asked them about it they don't understand my question...

My buddies used to reckon that it was a contraction of "si pues" when I asked them. Were they right? Who knows. It tended to be used if and when a "si" answer was so obvious it was hardly worth the effort.
