I downloaded Firefox this morning and it seems to work well, so far. My only "complaint" is that double-clicking a word in the text box (when writing question/answer) will not give the blue-box translation, as Internet Explorer did (though the blue box will appear if clicked when fully posted). I do not suppose anyone has a way to get the blue-box translation to appear in the text box for Firefox, do they? It was very helpful for double-checking my work without having to always type the word into the dictionary.

I have firefox and the blue box translator works while I'm typing. There's a grey box that appears below the answerbox that I'm typing in and if I double click on the words in the grey box the blue translations appears smile. Although, in the white box I'm typing in the double click feature doesn't work...

Maybe I'm misunderstanding.....

I use Firefox, and although the little 'blue box translator' doesn't work on a new post, I have my default Language in Firefox set to Spanish. So, as I'm typing a post the Spanish dictionary is 'live' and is spell checking my work. I don't know if this would help you or not. The cool thing is, you can switch back and forth between languages just by 'right clicking' anywhere on a page and selecting the new language. If you don't have it, you can download it from here

  • Okay. That could at least be of some help. Thanks! - danrivera May 13, 2010 flag

I love Firefox, too, but I agree with you:

I'd like to be able to double-click on a word in my post and see if it's spelled correctly in Spanish.

It's weird that it works in one browser and not another.

  • Install the dictionaries and you'll be able to spell check both English and Spanish. - lazarus1907 Jun 8, 2011 flag

Nope. It didn't work, and I'm using Firefox. rolleyes

  • Yeah, the double-click doesn't work in an active 'text box'. - Jack-OBrien May 13, 2010 flag

A big thank you to Jack, Princess, Gekkosan, and Name for your answers. You are all accepted (hypothetically speaking). However, for the direct nature of my question, the prize will have to go to Nametaken for having the most direct answer. Many thanks!

  • We're talking about when composing a post. The double-click feature doen't work. - --Mariana-- May 13, 2010 flag
  • It works while typing the question/answer? For me, it only works after it has been submitted and posted, but not in the actual text box. - danrivera May 13, 2010 flag

in my case (Mac, Firefox), the blue box comes up when double-clicking on words that are already posted, but not while writing in the "Answer" box. However, I have my spell-checker function turned on, which works even better, because it immediately underlines any misspelled (or unrecognized) words as I type.

That works very nicely indeed!

It also works in Mozilla's SeaMonkey (which I use) and can be downloaded from here
