Well it's difficult when you can't translate something 100% exactly XD Of course that Cielo is Sky/Heaven, if you want it literally... but in the context that you ask is more like My love, honey, darling (though darling could translate more like "querido", the same with the word Dear) honey is more like "cariño", and my love is like "mi amor", you can also use angel or sweetheart ~

I'm Mexican so I'm really sure about it 8D

Hi and welcome to the forum,

The word "cielo" means sky or heaven. I am guessing her guy is "heavenly". smile

I'm confused, why wouldn't she just call him "miel" then? - Nicole-B, Apr 20, 2010
Calling someone "miel" in Spanish wouldn't soung good... maybe "chocolatito" or "dulcecito" Watch my next answer! ;) - AntMexico, Apr 20, 2010

I know I am not a native, but Morbo is right, it is a term of endearment...I have asked my Mexican friends what they think it means in English and they all seem to agree on "My Darling". (This, of course, is very similar to "my love" or "honey") I hope this helps...

Consider the beloved Mexican anthem, Cielito Lindo. Yes, it's just like Ishigo and AntMexico explain. My love, mah boo, my sweetie, my darling, my little piece of heaven wink

In the Bible the word heaven is translated as cielo, so I would say she is saying her husband is like heaven.

Se utilizan muchísimas palabras en ese sentido... cada enamorado inventa las propias... cosita, bebé, mi vida, mi amor, florecita, gatita, gordito, vieja, viejo, gordo... por nombras unas cuantas. raspberry

The word cielo literally means sky. So I guess she is sort of referring to him as the light of her life or basically her love. smile That's sweet!

Cielo means sky, but if it is used to call someone then it means something like "my love".
