el cabello or el pelo?

If we are referring to the hair on a person's head, which of the two is more appropriate to use? If so, when do we use one and when do we use the other? Or may they be used interchangeably?

We have a previous thread on this, if I can find it. Cabello is hair on the head as is pelo, but pelo is more general and can refer to body hair/fur as well: pelo del brazo.

At least, that is how I remember it. Let me try and find the discussion.

It seems that we have several threads if you care to search for them. This one contrasts cabello, pelo, and vello.
