Translation exercise - Corrections needed

Yesterday I decided to make a very simple text in English and translated it to Spanish. Just as a test for myself. It turned out to be a little bit harder then I thought, since my English isn't 100% either.

The whole text is made in Simple present, since that's about how far my Spanish goes for now.

So... I'll just grab my courage together and post it here smile

Feel free to correct both languages.

  • In the morning I go to the park with my dog.

  • When I am back home, I take a shower.

Cuando vuelvo a casa, me ducho.

  • After the shower, my son and I go shopping.

  • In the shop we buy fruit and drinks:

En la tienda compramos frutas y bebidas:

  • Bananas, two avocados, a watermelon and oranges.

Plátanos, dos aguacates, una sandía y naranjas.

  • Four bottles of water, one orange juice and an apple juice.

  • When we are home, we put the fruit and the drinks in the right place.

  • In the afternoon my son plays and I watch TV

A la tarde mi hijo juega y yo miro la televisíon

  • At seven my son goes to sleep in his bed.

A las siete mi hijo se va a dormir en su cama

  • I study Spanish in the evening.

Estudio español por la noche.

When possible, I would appreciate it a lot if corrections can be folowed by an explanation.

Thanks red face

(I've editted my post with the corrections given. Hope i got it all right this time)

.

When we are home, we put the fruit and the drinks on the right place.

(sounds better)

.

My son is playing in the afternoon and I am watching TV

Es la tarde. Mi hijo está jugando y yo estoy mirando TV. (now) (If you say "in the afternoon" you need a present simple "plays", otherwise, it doesn't sound good. That's why I made a different sentence to say you are doing that in the afternoon)

or

In the afternoon my son plays and I watch tv

A la tarde mi hijo juega y yo miro TV

.

At seven my son goes to sleep in his bed.

A las siete mi hijo se va a dormir a su cama

.

The rest of the sentences are ok

When I am back home, I take a shower.

Cuando vuelvo en casa, me ducho.

So, does "volver en casa" mean "to be back home" while "volver a casa" means "to go back home"?

Volver en casa is not correct, if then, would be "de vuelta en casa" and "volver a casa" the two correct options - Zizoun, Feb 21, 2010
Gracias, I guess my first instinct about "volver a casa" was right then. - Luciente, Feb 21, 2010

After de shower, my son and I go shopping.

Despues de ducharme.... but Mexicans don't use ducharme much, so it depends what country you are in. Some just say bañarme

I'm in spain, so the way it's said in Spain would be the best ;) - Alrisaera, Feb 21, 2010
ducharme, isn't that "i showered"? Cause in the english sentence it is "the shower" - Alrisaera, Feb 21, 2010
The correct typing in that case is "Despues de la ducha, mi hijo y yo vamos de compras" - Zizoun, Feb 21, 2010

Anyone else has some corrections?

I'm sure I made more mistakes then just the ones Pilipina told me smile
