Thank you so much Heidita. Those will be very useful. - Cuzanne, Jan 21, 2010
Busca = Fetch, I think. - webdunce, Feb 28, 2010
Also, I have seen "Habla" used, and we do command our dogs "Speak" ... perhaps an alternative to "Ladra"??? - webdunce, Feb 28, 2010
I'm feeling a little intimidated. Just how big a vocabulary is this dog going to have? Could he tutor me by IM? - 0074b507, Feb 28, 2010
Fuera shouted in a rising voice seems to cover everything here be it dog cat or mule! - caza, Feb 28, 2010
Why do people in Costa Rica shout "Venga" which sounds like "Benga" when they mean come? Is Venga an imperative form of Venir? - judy21, Apr 14, 2010

Very useful list of commands. Thanks, Heidita.

They will come in handy with my adopted young golden retriever that's a native speaker in Spanish. She had been given up by a Spanish-speaking family because of illness.

Fortunately, she clearly understands the universal "no," but I'll be trying some of the above to see how many she knows. (She does know "ven," for "come.")

Meanwhile, Molly has had a far easier time learning English than I have had learning Spanish. In a very short time, she's mastered 18 basic English commands.

This breed can learn more than 80 commands, frequently within 2 or 3 tries. I'll work hard to make her truly bi-lingual, because we spend so much time in Mexico.

Sounds like hard work, but not with her; it'll be fun.
