Adding Games in Spanish for SpanishDict to help learners...

Spanish for users, which might I add would be a great way to surround themselves in another environment where Spanish is needed which not everyone has! I was thinking adding a tab/section in the "More" area would be a perfect place to put it, and on the "Home" page Span¡shD!ct could put something like "Think learning is boring? Well say no more, Span¡shD!ct now offers games in Spanish!" and then a click here link or something. Can I get some feedback, input, and ideas on this? I think it'd would be a great learning tool. grin

Sincerely, DJ Huero ((( d(-_-)b )))

Great idea! If you go over to Quia.com you can see that they have a variety of games that could easily be adapted into Spanish. IE. concentration, word search, battleship, challenge board, scavenger hunt, hangman, rags to riches, etc.

See here for the top 100

Great idea DJ. I would love to see a game that focuses on verbs. I have some ideas swirling in around, but I'm still working on them. We do focus on vocabulary games in the posts, but I think most of us need some help with using the proper verb tenses, moods, etc. I am going to keep working on an idea.

It does sound like you are talking about something a little more intricate, something that would require some computer expertise to put together and add to this site. I don't know if it can be done just yet, but your ideas are great. smile Thanks for your great contributions.

I do web design, lol and I can build games in flash, that's why i'm offering to give a little extra initial push in the idea to help it happen. And i'm glad my contributions are appreciated, I try. =) - DJ_Huero, Nov 18, 2009

Yes, good idea, DJ, but I think the big boss is too busy. I think this will take time, however, one can find games and such on the web.

I agree with Aloshek, this word of the day and picture of the day etc are a wonderful resourcesmile I would like to thank Issa for the wonderful job she is doing on thatgrin

yea i'm sure it'll take time, but it would soooo be worth it. also I agree, THANX Issa! - DJ_Huero, Nov 18, 2009
I actually have an easy solution to the length problem, I'm negotiating to obtain the HTML for the games which will allow for direct access to them and quick add here. I'll PM you more info. =) - DJ_Huero, Nov 18, 2009

Games are a great way to learn. I think most of my learning on SpanishDict has actually come from participating in the daily contests like "The picture of the day" and the "word of the day" and such. I look at them as games of sorts.

I agree, and their could even be games such as that made too. The possibilities at that point are endless. - DJ_Huero, Nov 18, 2009

Great idea, hopefully this one will be used! It would definately help for learning Spanish, I know that I am much more likely to learn something if it's fun smile
