What is the difference between 'entender' and 'comprender'

Most of the time, there are identical, but both have some specific uses where they are not interchangeable, but don't worry about them at this stage.

Can you tell me what those "specific uses" are?

To give you some examples:

Only Entender

For example when some people have a business agreement, we use:

Tienen un entendimiento.

It is also used in this sense:

1. prnl. Dicho de un hombre y una mujer: Tener alguna relación de carácter amoroso recatadamente, sin querer que aparezca en público.

Saying this "este hombre entiende" means he is gay.

Only comprender:

en el sentido de contener:

este acuerdo comprende ....
