This time I am attacking with the same writer but a different topic: football!! I mentioned before, Maria Jose Navarro, is an unconditional fan of the Atlético de Madrid and is a columnist in a national newspaper.

This article was published today and I hope this will be easier than her Leonor bitwink

My final attempt...

In an unusual and unprecedented press conference, Jesús Navas has told us that now he wants to go to the Spanish National Team. That is to say that, yes, now he wants to and thinks it would be awesome, as long as it’s close by and he’s within cell-phone range and can chat with his family. The next will be that Raúl convenes another to say that now he wishes to be Starter for Madrid again, or that Guti makes a date with the media to tell Pellegrini that now he can forgive him. Navas affirms that he is satisfied, and that, as long as Vincente del Bosque deems it appropriate, he’ll be so kind as to spend a little time with la Roja. We thank him for adding that the decision is in the hands of the selector (coach?), because up until now we thought that the soccer players appointed themselves.

This staging seems ridiculous. It seems like a meaningless pretense that Hierro has forced the player to enact to cover his back, so that it won’t turn out that the boy does a disappearing act, leaving the Federation, Hierro, Del Bosque, and even the Spanish National Team with egg on their faces (thanks Izononi). Although, now I remember that Spain’s old #7 (Raúl) appeared before the European Cup to forgive (excuse?) the tastelessness of Luis Aragonés, so we needn’t fear. (lit: we are cured of fear)

In an unusual and unprecedented press conference, Jesús Navas has told us that he now wants to go to the Spanish National Team (la Selección de Fútbol de España.) That is to say, really, that he wants it now already (he wants it and he wants it now), and that it would be awesome/great provided that it get him closer (a stones throw away) and that he have coverage (be allowed) to speak with the family anytime(I imagine "family" might be referring to the media or possibly his former team but may could be taken literally, if it were to mean that he could avoid feeling homesick if he were to make this move). What will be next is that Raúl (González – the team’s top scorer) will call another (press conference) in order to say that he still wants play with Real Madrid, or that (The co-captain of Real Madrid, José María Gutiérrez) 'Guti' meet with the press to tell (Manuel) Pellegrini (Manager of Real Madrid) that he already forgives him. Navas swears that he is satisfied and that as long as Vicente del Bosque (coach of the Spanish National Team) sees it fit, he would be pleased to stay (play) with the Red (Spanish National Team) a while. We are glad that he added that it’s the manager’s decision (to make) because we thought that the players had already gotten together on their own (and made the decision).

This staging (this whole thing) seems odd (ridiculous.) It feels like a meaningless farce that Hierro has forced the players to enact in order to cover their backs, on the off chance that the boy gets scared off and leaves the League, Hierro, Del Bosque and the team with egg on there face (embarrassed). Although, I still recall that Spain’s last number seven happened before the Eurocup (European football championships) so that I can get rid of the bad taste in my mouth (figuratively) left by Luis Aragones, as soon as we are cured of (that) fear.

Second Try

In an unusual and unprecedented press conference, Jesús Navas has told us that he now wants to go to the Spanish National Team. That is to say, really, that he wants it right now, and that it would be cool with him as long as the thing was kept nearby and that he have cell phone coverage/have freedom to speak with (call) his family anytime. The next thing you know will be that, Raúl (González – or simply “number 7”) will call another press conference in order to say that he wants to be the star player in Madrid again, or that Guti (The co-captain of Real Madrid, José María Gutiérrez) will meet with the press to tell (Manuel) Pellegrini (Manager of Real Madrid) that he forgives him now. Though I still remember it was at the displeasure of (team manager) Luis Aragonés that the old number 7 (Raúl) appeared before in the Eurocup, so we are (finally) cured of that abomination/horror (the horror being Raúl).

I had to look into the background of all of these people and it appears that Raúl held the distinction of having the most goals scored for the national team (thanks in part to the fact that his best friend Hierro was on the team to pass him the ball), but that Luis Aragonés (and some fans) felt that there were other players that played his position that were equally deserving of a chance to play for the national team, so he was left of off/retired from (depending on which account you read) of the national team but continues to play for Real Madrid. I am guessing that she feels, too that number 7 is overrated and that other more deserving players had been left off the national team because of him. So she is basically saying that thanks to Aragonés the national team is no longer forced to guarantee a spot for Raúl.

By the way:

Navas, «po zí»

pozi...pues sí, very colloquial usage. We often say this here in Madrid. I think this all comes from a man who used to be on TV and used to say "pozi" instead of "pues sí" and we are stuck with it now rolleyes rolleyes

Look what Frikipedia has to say about el Poziwink

In an unusual and unprecedented press conference, Jesús Navas has told that he now wants to join the Spanish national team. That is, of course that he really wants it now, as long as something a stone's throw away doesn't get on his way, and he has used all of the time for talking with his family.

Lo próximo será que Raúl convoque otra para decir que ya desea ser titular en el Madrid de nuevo, o que Guti cite a los medios para comentarle a Pellegrini que ya le puede perdonar.

Next, he will call another (press conference) in order to say whether he wants to be the first in Madrid team again, or if Guti calls a meeting with the press to comment on Pellegrini who he will perhaps apologise to.

Navas assures that he is calm and that, only if Vinvente del Bosque considers it convenient, he will do the favour of taking a little while with the Red (Spanish national football team). We are grateful that he added that the decision is to be made by the selecting manager, as we thought that it's the footballers who appoint (select) themselves.

Such staging seem ricdiculous. It seems pointless maintaining an appearance that Hierro forced a player to cover their backs, not wanting to be a whipping boy he got scared and made the Federation, Hierro, Del Bosque and all of the representation to go red with embarrassment.

Although, I remember now that the Spain's ex-number-seven-player appeared in court before the European Football Championship to apologize for the Luis Aragonés's bad taste, so we've been cured of fear.

In a press conference unheard of and without precedent, Jesús Navas has told us that he is ready to go to the (World Cup) Selection. Or rather, that yes, right now he wants to and it would be cool, as long as stones are being cast at him, he will take cover and talk to hs family for a bit. Next, Raul will call another and say he wants the title for New Madrid, or Guti will contact the media to say that Pellegrini will take it, excuse me. Nava assured that he is calm and that as long as Vicente del Bosque saw fit, he would take the chance to talk to the Reds. We thank him for adding that, because we though that soccer players were only summoned.

It would feel ridiculous to be an extra. To keep up appearances without feeling that Hierro has promised to commit the player to covering the backs, he is not going to be the kid striking fear and forcing the Federation, Hierro, and del Bosque and until the selection of the reds we can only wait. Although, we now recall the ex-seven Saniards who appeared before the European Cup to appologize for the bitter taste of Luis Aragonés, so we do have something to be afraid of.

Heidi,

I know I am a newcomer to these threads. What exactly are you looking for? Is it a translation or something else. The last thread seemed to be more of a riddle. I really would like to start working on these, but I want to make sure I am working on the right thing.
