In English, it's second conditional; and I thought that I could express it in Spanish in a similar way. It's like "It's so great that I've got Spanish, otherwise I'd freeze". - Issabela, Oct 11, 2009

1. Era - you should use the imperfect tense, as you're somehow describing the scene.
2. Conhelado means frozen: pescado congelado, verdura congelada; helado means freezing.
