Can you "friend" users?
Hi, I'm fairly new to the site and haven't discovered all that it offers yet. I teach Spanish to middle and high school students who are on this site learning (I'm still learning as well). I know that there is a way to email users once you get a certain amount of points, badges, or reputation...but is there a way to keep a friends list of only the users you want to see on a regular basis? Also, is there a way to invite just certain people into a chat or is the chat open to all people? Gracias! Ana

No, you cannot. Someone else just asked this question too. I really wish that they would add that feature. There is a similar site to this one, but almost every language is available to learn, and they have the friend feature. I prefer this one though because although you cannot add friends, there is a lot of other great stuff including the dictionary, and the verb conjugation tool.
You can find friends that will help you along your path. It just takes time... You'll make your amigitos y en buen tiempo you'll learn. I don't really know who to do that chat thing...or keep a list. I just resonde a ellos quien me hace una pregunta en esa cosa o la otra. The same will happen to you in time.
SD used to have a possibility to "friend" other users and there also used to be a comment-wall on every user's page, way back in the days when there were only about 2000 members . Then SD grew and was made over, I believe there were several make-overs. Somewhere along the way choices must have been made and those features disappeared.
Yes, I would suggest sending them all a message and keeping them in your inbox. Then, when you'd like to look at their profiles, just click their names next to the messages they respond with.
It would be a neat addition to have a pupil or student list for the more advanced speakers. They could have a sort of mentor status.
Skype has been the best to make new friends and practice Spanish at the same time. I love that SD has fluent Spanish speakers helping Fluent English speakers and vice versa. Its a great thing!
If you know your students' SpanishDict nicknames, you can click on users under more at the top of your computer screen. Then enter the nickname of each one to find it. Click on it to be taken to a profile where you can see what they have done on the site.
You can use skype for this purpose
No. This site does not currently have a friend or buddy list feature although it would be nice...
Regarding the chat... It won't load on my laptop so I know next to nothing on how to use it.

Hi, That doesn't answer my question. I don't want to find random friends. I want to specifically find the students in my class. Can I put them into some sort of "buddy list" to see what they're up to? Thanks, Ana
