If you are talking in the past tense you would say "Maria folded the envelope and put it in my bag."
If you are giving a command you would say "Maria, fold the envelope and put it in my bag."
The next sentence should say "The sergeant gave...."
Can you give us your sentences on the words "flap" and "harass?" If you post them we can help you correct them.

- Well, it does not necessarily have to be "Maria folded..." I think he left out a comma/colon. "Maria, fold the envelope and put it into my bag!" The second one is definitely "gave" though. - Nick-Cortina Sep 7, 2009 flag
- Oh, yeah, I never even saw that it could have been a command. - --Mariana-- Sep 7, 2009 flag
