Comma Usage

Question

When I am writing a sentence en español, do similar rule of punctuation apply as in english?

Par ejamplo

Me gusta los colore rojo, verde, naranja, y azul.

Is this what is used or is the comma used less often?

Do any special rules apply to comma usage?

In a series Spanish does not put a comma before the "y", but I see it used before the y when used as a conjunction connecting clauses or compound sentences.
