Is Lazarus..... moving on?

Whenever I look up something on the forum, it seems the first person I look for is... Lazarus. And if I don't see a response from him, I have a tendency to hit my browser back arrow. But as time passes, I see less and less of him; maybe he should be put on the payroll (if he isn't already!) so he has an incentive to respond more often!

I bet you speak for an awful lot of people here at SD!! - territurtle, Dec 20, 2011
The other possibility may be his age. I mean, look at his name-lazarus 1907! 105 is getting to be time to slow down! - Pinolero, Jan 3, 2012
Jesh! I'm Frank101. That would make me 4 yrs. younger than 105 :) - mtmonadnock, Feb 3, 2012

Larazus is an amazing talent. In the early days of my involvement here in SD he answered my questions in such a way that I completely understood what he was talking about.

He could obviously see that I knew nothing about English or Spanish grammar. He explained things in language that I could identify with. Then as I grew in confidence and asked perhaps a little more complex questions again he would respond in a way that just seemed to capture my learning style.

The guy is amazing and I am so thankful to have benefitted from his talents.

I would buy a page, chapter, volume, complete book, books etc etc from Lazarus.

Lazarus = Simply the Best!!

Great idea! Maybe we should start a 'bring back Lazarus' thread and see if we can give him some good reasons and encouragement to come back smile Although, if he has to sacrifice the forum to finish his grammar book, that I can understand and wholeheartedly support lol - bags be first in the queue to buy it!

He's doing a Grammar book? I hope we will know how to obtain it. - caza, Dec 20, 2011

Where do we sign up for an advance copy? It's a long trip to get a signed, first edition. Maybe if he could approach a publisher saying that he already has requests for the first hundred of so books (it must be a tome by now) it might help him to get it published.

Lately I have had little time to be here, but I have noticed Lazarus' absence. I miss his wit, his insightful grammar explanations, and his willingness to say exactly what he thinks. I too hope he returns soon.

Great post t8805jg. Let's just hope he sees it and returns as soon as possible.

thank you, eddy; Judging from your comment, I assume he's NOT on the payroll, but SD should try to discuss that. I have an excel worksheet where I "copy & paste" many of his responses! - t8805jg, Jan 4, 2012

That's funny, I was just wondering where Mariana is lately, and I see she is out looking for Lazarus. I wondered why he was so scarce.

He seems to be sorely missed... It's to be expected after all.. He gave us all great insight into the language. I acutally expect his answers to be there for every complicated question I have, and normally it's there. It IS getting disappointing to see less and less of him though, seeing as I had help from him more than I can count. smile

If this rumor(?) about his grammar book is true, I'd love to buy it. I don't CARE how much it costs, I'm getting it! XD

I miss him very much.

He is an extraordinary mixture of sense of humour, knowledge and seriousness.

Not only you, English speakers. I've learnt a lot from him too.

Yes, I do miss him very much.

If adding a post to this thread has any chance of getting Lazarus to come back, I will add a post. I often wonder what motivates any given person to be a regular member here- for many it is obvious (to learn and practice)- but for others not so much- I always have assumed that Lazarus was here to here to experiment with what method actually worked best to help us learn a concept, so that he could write the best possible book. And clearly this was working, because anything he explained was clear, and readily understandable in the simplest possible terms, in addition to having the virtue of being always correct. I truly hope he chooses to grace us with presence again; I have learned so much from every one of his posts, even (and maybe especially) when they were to the effect of "you really screwed this up and this is why...".

Please come back.
