b. sour

It seems like the cake went bad; it has a sour taste.

4. (grating)

Do you have a cold? Your voice sounds raspy today.

5. (bleak)

I could never live in a region with such a harsh and cold climate.

6. (bad-tempered)

b. surly

c. abrupt

Perdón si les parecí un poco áspera y cortante; no era mi intención.

I apologize if I seemed a bit abrupt and snappy; I didn't mean to.

7. (rude)

a. rough

El mesero que nos atendió en el restaurante fue muy áspero y nada amable.

The waiter who served us at the restaurant was rough and not very nice at all.

b. harsh

El dueño de la tienda nos invitó a salir con una voz áspera.

The store owner asked us to leave in a harsh voice.
