A pronoun is a word that stands in for a noun (e.g. she).
1. (indeterminate)
a. someone (in affirmative clauses)
Estoy seguro de que alguna se llevó mis llaves por equivocación.I'm pretty sure someone took my keys by mistake.
b. somebody (in affirmative clauses)
¿Quién dejó sus tenis aquí? - Seguro que alguna del equipo de vóley de chicas.Who left their shoes here? - Somebody from the girls volleyball team, I'm sure.
c. anyone (in interrogative clauses)
Ana, Lucía, ¿alguna puede venir a darme una mano con las bolsas?Ana, Lucia. Can anyone come give me a hand with the bags?
d. anybody (in interrogative clauses)
¿Alguna vio mi celular? Estaba segura de que estaba sobre la mesa.Has anybody seen my cellphone? I swear I saw it on the table.
e. some (in affirmative clauses; replacing plural nouns)
La mayoría de las profesoras de idiomas son de aquí, pero algunas son extranjeras.Most language teachers are locals, but some are foreigners.
f. any (in interrogative and negative clauses)
Vine a este mercado para comprar fresas. ¿Tienes algunas?I came to this market to buy strawberries. Do you have any?
