While in panama we used a clave to access funds from our bank.Clave means key.I recently saw another word for key "llave".What is the difference in the 2 words?Thanks,Dave

Clave means key as in password or secret code (codigo).

Llave means key as in something you use to open a lock.

HI dave, llave is the key to your door, and also a yudo lock , for example.

Clave is the word to use in bankinggrin

Just a different word for different contexts. For example, campo and pais both mean country, but the former means country as in the backwoods and the later meaning country as in a political entity.
