Wonderful "correctors" doing a great job, thanks:)

I have just commented on this post by Ray, who was just joking around, as usual, jeje.

Some people thought he was serious, one of the marvelous correctors we have on this site was one of them. Cogumela, Ray would never criticise such a time consuming jobwink

However, I would like to mention some of the natives who are helping out such a lot that I think a special mention might be in place.

Billstpor is doing all the corrections with a lot of grammar indications etc on both The Word of the Day as The Picture of the Day.

This is only one example:

'equipaje'= luggage. Here you need one of these: 'equipo', 'equipación', 'equipamiento'. Also, in the periphrasis 'llevar + (participio)', the participle has to match the gender/number of the d.o., not the subject, ie: 'llevan puesto mucho equipo' or - Billstpor

Cogumela is doing the same and she is also taking all those long and time consuming proofreadings into her hands! Aaaand she was called mi amor by Ray...grrrrrrrrr

This being just one example.

Tonyriva is answering a lot of questions and also does proofreading.

Ray just said this about him: Thank you Tony, and I must truthfully say that you are a very careful and fair "corrector".

However: If you do not wish to be corrected, please say so explicitly on your page or on your posts, thanks.

These people are relatively new on this site, and we have been very lucky to get them hooked, jeje,. And of course all those members who have been correcting, answering questions , proofreading....I mean there are so many I am sure to forget some of the names.... so I just wanted to say to all of you:

Yes Heidi we are are really Blessed to have them and need to appeciate and value them you are sooooo right! :) - FELIZ77, Nov 18, 2010
Yes, their corrections are always appreciated. By the way, I think Billstpor may be more knowledgeable of English than most of us English speakers. En serio. - webdunce, Nov 18, 2010
Heidi, no tienes nada que temer. Ray y yo sólo somos buenos amigos. Él te quiere a ti, y yo soy mujer de un solo hombre. :) - cogumela, Nov 18, 2010
jeje si me llamó " mi amor" sería para compensar lo que me dijo el otro día. ¿Sabes cómo me llamó? "mi honga" ¿qué te parece? : - cogumela, Nov 18, 2010

I certainly hope my latest post was not misunderstood, there is no way in this

wide world that I am unhappy with the fantastic people who work so hard to

correct our posts . The reason, and the only reason for my post was to

entertain and get people to enjoy each other in a light hearted way, quite often

because we are all sometimes over achievers we do tend to get uptight i can

feel this ,so then I write a post make an idiot of myself just to get people tp

relax and enjoy what we are doing. I never criticize or even think that it is

necessary to do so , but if anyone has taken offense then I apologize no offence was meant , simply a desire to entertain ,that is what i have done all my life.

Lo hacemos encantados de la vida, gracias por tanto aprecio.

No os olvideis que de cada frase vuestra que leo yo también aprendo. ¡Soy yo la que debería estar agradecida!

We are happy to do so. Thanks to all of you for your appreciation.

Don't forget that every sentence I read, I also learn. I'm the one who should be grateful!

I absolutely want and need to be corrected! That's why I try to post in Spanish - not because I can speak and write Spanish well, but because I can't! So, let me add my heartfelt thanks to our faithful correctors.

This is such a wonderful learning site, and every time I am corrected I learn something valuable. Now if I can just remember it until my next post . . . jejeje!

well, I certainly can, I even got a threatening letter...so please , for everybody, point out you dont wish to be corrected if you don't...

Ha ha! What?!? Amazing! I never understood NOT wanting to be corrected. Sure, sometimes it's rough on the ego, but it's better than going around being incorrect.

That said, sometimes one must realize that the person making the corrections might be wrong. In which case, I frequently still thank them for the correction unless it seems I can kindly correct them (it depends on how much being right matters...and usually it barely matters at all).

Still, I can't imagine coming to a learning site and then rebuffing people for correcting me.

I always welcome corrections to my posts and answers, I am still a "learner" and if beginners like me who make mistakes are not corrected, we are leaning incorrectly! So.........................

Wow! I can't imagine that anyone who is part of a learning site would not appreciate corrections.

As I once said to Cogumela...

I do nothing but add my "two cents"... The more posts on a question, the easier for the original poster to get that question solved...

I really don't mind my English, nor my Spanish to be corrected... I really appreciate it... we're all learning here.

So far I've learnt a lot of words in both languages... I mean... I didn't know it was "libido" smile... thanks Heidita, or to say "whom you're addressing"... instead of "who you are addressing to"... Thanks MC. Yesterday... I learnt the word "cariña" thanks gfreed...

So... thank you, for all the things I've learnt... and all the things I'm going to learn... and for the warmly welcoming that I think everyone gets here.

It's hard to leave... once you've been here... wink

And about the corrections... I do it to help, I'm really sorry if I sound picky sometimes... but I've always thought that everybody is able to conquer, master and excel in everything they try... smirk

I am continually amazed and touched by the kindness and generosity of heart of those who correct our posts especially the native speakers who often correct long sentences and proof-read large paragraphs posted by people. We should not take this kindness and these people for granted!

We are truly Blessed to have them here on this site and doubly Blessed because they so frequenty give up their time and expertise free of charge to translate and correct large amounts of Spanish, and English!

When I think of the Spanish natives I think of people like Gekkosan, Cogumelo, Billstor, Lazaurus. and Heidi just to mention a few

This community could not function as effectively as it does without such people selflessly helping others..we owe them an enormous debt of gratitude! Words alone cannot convey all I would like to say but.....

Thank you all sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo very much!!!!

Muchas gracias por todo su ayuda grin smile tongue wink

El poder del conocimiento está más allá de nuestros sueños más salvajes.

( The power of knowledge is beyond our wildest dreams. )

Everyone is invited ( and I mean everyone..) to correct my posts. That is what we get as feedback and gives us food and courage to proceed even further. With my little knowledge in English and even less in Spanish I welcome every "crumb of knowledge" - "??????? ??????" - ( that is Greek to me smile ) - "migaja de conocimiento" I can get.

A great Thank you to all these gentle people that try to help us. red face
