A transitive verb is a verb that requires a direct object (e.g. I bought a book.).
1. (to accomplish)
a. lograr
The revolution didn't achieve much in the way of human rights.Con la revolución no se logró mucho en lo tocante a derechos humanos.
b. llegar a
If you continue like this, you will never achieve anything in your life.Si sigues así, nunca llegarás a nada en la vida.
c. servir de (effort or death)
Their deaths achieved nothing.Sus muertes no sirvieron de nada.
2. (to reach)
a. lograr (success)
She achieved success in everything she put her heart into.Logró tener éxito en todo lo que se propuso.
b. alcanzar (aim or goal)
If you believe in what you are doing, you will achieve your goal.Si crees en lo que haces, alcanzarás tu meta.
c. hacer realidad (dream or ambition)
She achieved her dream to become a painter.Hizo realidad su sueño de convertirse en pintora.
An intransitive verb is one that does not require a direct object (e.g. The man sneezed.).
3. (to be successful)
a. tener éxito
He strove hard to achieve in his career.Se esforzó mucho por tener éxito en su carrera.
