A contraction is a shortened form of a word or group of words made by omitting a sound or letter (e.g. don't).
1. (possessive)

2. (someone is; used to express a temporary state)
This refers to an idiomatic word or phrase for which there is no word-for-word translation.

3. (someone has; used to indicate possession)
a. alguien tiene
Someone's got the keys to Jed's apartment while he's on vacation.Alguien tiene las llaves del apartamento de Jed mientras está de vacaciones.
4. (someone has; used to indicate obligation)
a. alguien tiene
Someone's got to do it so it may as well be me.Alguien tiene que hacerlo así que ¿por qué no yo?
5. (someone has; used to indicate the past)
a. alguien ha
We don't need to worry about the flowers because someone's ordered them already.No tenemos que preocuparnos por las flores porque alguien ya las ha encargado.
