An adjective is a word that describes a noun (e.g. the big dog).
1. (overbearing) a. oppressive Estos niños estuvieron sometidos a una educación opresora que no les permitió expresarse. These children were submitted to an oppressive upbringing which did not allow them to express themselves.
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).
