The masculine form of "modista" can also be "modisto."
el modista, la modista(
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).
1. (one who designs)
a. fashion designer
El famoso modisto presentó su nueva colección de vestidos.The famous fashion designer launched his new collection of dresses.
b. couturier
La modista alberga en su tienda varios de sus propios diseños.The couturier has several of her own designs in her store.
2. (one who sews)
a. tailor
El traje de boda lo arregló un modisto que conoce bien mis hechuras.My wedding dress was mended by a tailor who knows my size very well.
b. dressmaker
La modista utiliza una variedad de agujas e hilos para su trabajo.The dressmaker uses a wide range of needles and threads for her work.
