An adjective is a word that describes a noun (e.g. the big dog).
1. (devoted)
a. faithful
Su novia y él han sido fieles durante toda la relación.He and his girlfriend have remained faithful to each other throughout the relationship.
Mi perro es mi amigo más fiel.My dog is my most faithful friend.
b. loyal
Tengo amigos muy fieles.I have very loyal friends.
2. (precise)
a. accurate
El cuadro es una representación muy fiel de la escena.The painting is a very accurate depiction of the scene.
b. faithful
El notario certificó que el documento era copia fiel del original.The notary certified that the document was a faithful copy of the original.
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).
3. (religious)
a. believer
El pastor pidió a cada fiel unirse a él en una oración especial.The pastor asked every believer to join him in a special prayer.
A masculine noun is used with masculine articles and adjectives (e.g. el hombre guapo, el sol amarillo).
4. (on scales)
a. needle

b. pointer
El fiel amplifica el movimiento de la barra horizontal.The pointer amplifies the movement of the horizontal bar.
