1. (used to indicate location)
a. between them (two elements)
Allí estaban Amparo y Mario. El pequeño Carlos estaba sentado entre ellos.There were Amparo and Mario. Little Carlos was sitting between them.
b. among them (several elements)
En comisaría le mostraron muchas fotos, pero su agresor no estaba entre ellos.She was shown many photos at the precinct, but her attacker wasn't among them.
c. amongst them (several elements)
La mesa estaba llena de papeles. Encontré esta carta entre ellos.The desk was full of papers. I found this letter amongst them.
2. (used to indicate collaboration)
a. between them
Todo lo hicieron entre ellos. No recibieron ninguna ayuda de sus profesores o de sus maestros.They did it all between them. They didn't get any help from their teachers or their parents.
