An intransitive verb phrase is a phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or other particle and does not require a direct object (e.g. Everybody please stand up.).
a. to ride on horseback
A la tarde, solíamos andar a caballo.In the afternoons, we would ride on horseback.
b. to ride a horse
Si quieres aprender a andar a caballo, tienes que elegir un instructor con experiencia.If you want to learn to ride a horse, you have to choose an experienced instructor.
