It is the diminutive form of hermosa. Diminutive forms can be used as a term of endearment expressing sentiment or familiarity, among other things. Costa Ricans are nicknamed Ticos due to their excessive use of the diminutive form, for example:
Hermanito, venga ahorita con la chiquita. Vamos a la casita para tomar un cafecito con tu abuelita.
I think it is the diminutive of hermoso/a, which means beautiful. You can look up hermoso in the dictionary. This sounds like a pet name for someone, but we can't tell without the context.
Yo are right Natasha. Hermosita is female. Hermosito is male.
Beautiful
Hermosita is basically a derivative of hermosa. Anytime a spanish speaker adds, "ita" to a name, it is basically like making a pet name. Like calling someone named, chris, chrissy. Regards.
Thank You....... to everyone who replied.
Gracias, sin embargo, heidita. ¿Por qué dices hermosote y no hermosito'
Oh sorry, I thought he was a she...
then it would be "hermosote"
How interesting . . . we would never say that. When my baby was newborn, people would say things like "That's a beautiful boy" -- but not now that he's a little bigger. "Cute" or "charming" might work, or "sweet" for a girl. Right now, if my baby does not stop trying to play with the trash can, I am going to call him LITTLE RASCAL!!
In England, if referring to a child we would say "what a little beauty"
Hi: we would call this beauty "hermosita" ( I mean the baby!!)
Bienvenida al foro, little "hermosita"
