Alguien vs. Alguno

Question

Hi there

When would one use alguno instead of alguien when you want to say "someone"?

Alguien is someone or somebody.

Alguien comió todo el pan.
Someone/somebody ate all the bread.

Alguien and alguno are not the same. First of all "alguno" implies it's a male or a masculine object. Alguno comes from "algún" + a masculine noun".

Algún muchacho cobró el cheque en el banco.
Alguno cobró el cheque en el banco. (it's like a pronoun or a substitute of "algún muchacho")

Algún árbol fue plantado aquí.
Alguno fue plantado aquí.

If we had plurals or feminines we wouldn't have the word "alguno".
Examples.
Alguna muchacha cobró el cheque. Alguna cobró el cheque.
Algunos muchachos cobraron el cheque. Algunos cobraron el cheque.
Algunas muchachas cobraron el cheque. Algunas cobraron el cheque.
Algún árbol fue plantado aquí. Alguno fue plantado aquí.
Algunos árboles fueron plantados aquí. Algunos fueron plantados aquí.
Alguna comida debemos comprar. Alguna debemos comprar.
Algunas comidas debemos comprar. Algunas debemos comprar.

sorry, I did do a search for "alguno vs alguien" and nothing came up
