Nouns and verbs pluralization thereof.

Question

There has been a plethora of questions lately about the plural of nouns, verbs, etc.

ARTICLES:

If the singular definite article is "el" the plural is "los."

If the singular definite article is "la" the plural is "las"

SUBJECT PRONOUNS:

The plural of "yo" is "nosotros/as"

The plural of "él" is ellos. The plural of "ella" is "ellas"

The plural of either "tú" or "usted" in Latin America is "ustedes" and will take the same verb endings as "él/la and ellos/ellas respectively.

VERBS:

The "yo" ending of regular verbs is "o" The nosotros ending of regular verbs is "mos"

The singular ( él/ella) ending of verbs is "a" for "ar" verbs and "e" for "er/ir" verbs

The plural (ellos/ellas) ending of verbs is "an" for "ar" verbs and "en" for "er/ir verbs.

Making nouns plural

A simple general rule is: If a noun ends in a vowel, just add an "s." EX. "chico/chicos"

If a noun ends in a consonant add "es" EX. Mujer/mujeres. There are several rules applying to words ending in "s" and "x" so you have the link for this.

When you make your nouns plural you also have to make your adjectives plural.

ADJECTIVES:

If the adjective ends in a vowel----"delgado" just add "s" you get "degaldos"

If the adjective ends in a consonant, add "es" "difícil" ---difíciles.

Also if your noun is feminine, you have to make your adjective feminine.

EX. Pablo es cubano. María is cubana. If you have mixed genders, when pluralizing, make everything masculine.

David es español. Daniela es española.// David y Daniela son españoles.
