"The rest" of multiple objects

In English, the rest of their lives is singular. The rest.

Do we use the same guideline in Spanish?

Por el resto de sus vidas cortas.

or

Por los restos de sus vidas cortas.

Thank you!

If you are talking Of one person it will be: - EleRo, May 15, 2016
Por el resto de su corta vida. But I only see "The rest Of their lives, there isn't The word "short. It will be , por el resto de sus vidas. - EleRo, May 15, 2016

For your future reference:

There's a quicker, easier way to find some answers than by posting your questions here.

In the translator, enter For the rest of their short lives. You'll get three identical translations:
Para el resto de sus cortas vidas.
Para el resto de sus cortas vidas.
Para el resto de sus vidas cortas.

Not a "restos" in the bunch.

Obviously, you shouldn't put too much stock in machine translations, but for simple sentences, if all three agree, they're probably right.

the other way would be "lo demás".

But for your particular sentence I agree with Julian.
