How do people greet each other in Spain?
I am doing research for my college class about a culture that I don't know about. I picked Spain because I have always had an interest in it. This week we are to find out, how do people greet one another? And in each situation, is the greeting different for males and females? If so, please explain the difference between Male - Female, Female - Female, and Male - Male. These are the situations:
- Family
- Friends
- Acquaintances
- New people
- In the street
I hope I am clear in my request. I would appreciate any help that can be given. Thank you!

They kiss each other on both cheeks. First the right cheek, then the left. There is no difference between male and female, although male friends often slap each others backs a lot and hug as well as, or instead of, kissing. Nobody is spared, babies , teenagers, grandmothers, all must be kissed on both cheeks.
A loud smacking noise must be heard.
If you don't believe me, watch the films of Pedro Amodóvar, they are usually full of greetings, Volver is a good example.
