Nickelbackfan,

No one is harassing you. This is a language learning site for not only those trying to learn and improve their Spanish, but also for those trying to learn English. In that regard, one of the rules (which you can see for yourself above by clicking on the blue "rules" or on the thread that has been hanging around on this page of threads) is this one:

Use correct capitalization, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. We are a language site.

You keep saying it is not "required," but that's a matter of semantics. Are storm troopers going to come to your house and arrest you? No. Might you be banned from this site? Quite possibly.

Rac1 is one of the moderators on this site. Once you've been here long enough, you will realize that she is the furthest thing from a "harasser." She's trying to have you respect the rules of the site for the benefit of EVERYONE.

In the end, that's really what this is about - respect. Please follow the rules, including using correct capitalization, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

As for your question, my audio course has used both "hubo" and "habia" in virtually identical contexts, so I believe you can get by very well using either if you're not sure which one is the "most" correct.

Sorry I didn't know of this i will fix that error and apologize for saying that - Nickelbackfan1, Nov 10, 2015
Hi Nickelbackfan, just to note that Nickel's question was not about 'hubo' and 'habia' rather it was about translating a sentence from English to Spanish. I believe that (0feliax) asked a question regarding the use of the two words. - marksteve, Nov 10, 2015
Marksteve, thanks. I was confusing this with another thread. Sorry. - Winkfish, Nov 10, 2015
Nickelbackfan (I'm one, too), thanks for understanding, and welcome! I hope you stick around and contribute to the forum. It's really sort of fun. ;-) - Winkfish, Nov 10, 2015

Everybody needs a hero.

Everybody is best translated to: todo el mundo. Needs refers bach to that person (among the people) so you would put: necesita. A hero is un héroe in Spanish, you can also use un modelo a seguir.

So, the sentence would be: todo el mundo necesita un héroe/un modelo a seguir.

I agree with the friends, we follow the rules because they benefit us as well as they benefit others, the website is for learning, writing using proper gramatical rules is part of the learning here, so just try your best next time my friend! - marksteve, Nov 10, 2015
I hope this helps! - marksteve, Nov 10, 2015
I'm so sorry about that issue I will follow the rule from now on. - Nickelbackfan1, Nov 10, 2015

You can also say it like this:

Todo hombre necesita de un héroe

If you type the sentence into the translator and click Translate, you will get three machine translations. Choose the one you like best, or ask questions here if there's something specific that you don't understand.

Thanks jtaniel i haven't tried the translator yet how accurate is it on a scale of one to ten because i know google is a 2 on my teachers scale - Nickelbackfan1, Nov 10, 2015
The translators are better with shorter phrases or sentences. Often, one of the three machine translations is quite bad (not always the same translator). You can learn a lot by trying to figure out which translation is best. - jtaniel, Nov 10, 2015
May I ask that you use correct English here? End sentences with periods and question marks? There are people learning English and we want to set a good example. - jtaniel, Nov 10, 2015
Okay sorry I am not used to having always to use them i will be using them from now on . - Nickelbackfan1, Nov 10, 2015
