What does "mahita" mean?

Mahita, does not exist in either language.

The word seems to be "mijita" short of "mi hijita" a lovely way to address your daughter.

One possibility that occurs to me would be the feminine diminutive of majo- majita

I won't claim that I know this for sure, just raising it as a possibility.
