Men (Non Scottish) who wear skirts/kilts

Why are only Scotsmen the ones who can wear skirts? I think that a skirt or kilt looks really great on some men. Here are some soldiers that are wearing them. What do you think?

Está bien sólo que no se paren de cabeza vestidos así, ja ja - 005faa61, May 8, 2015
Scotsmen are not the only people that wear 'Kilts" they are worn by many nations. - ray76, May 8, 2015
I like the difference between the sexes. Skirts with some cultural exceptions are for women and I'd like to see it stay that way. Otherwise, why don't we have just 1 gender...we'll call it the Dani gender :) - Sassette, May 9, 2015
That doesn't work. I'm female and that's that! But I have the choice to wear pants or skirts. Society does not grant men that priveledge. - Daniela2041, May 9, 2015

In the top picture, the denim skirt is way too short. Even women have a hard time navigating in these. - Daniela2041, May 9, 2015
I could be way off on this but the guy on the left side of the first photo reminds me of a young former US president named Jimmy Carter. - Sassette, May 9, 2015

I did ask viewers to not vote for me. I don't want my work to be judged by votes. I just enjoy sharing. Being that my request was not respected I am requesting that my post be removed.

Again, a skirted man's garment is not supposed to look like this. Just as there are pants designed for women and those desiged for men, my contention is that skirted garments can be designed to fit the male frame, and give the male a choice in what - Daniela2041, May 9, 2015

You don't need to be a male model to look good in a kilt. In fact, even the ugliest man still looks smart in modern highland attire ;-) - Faldaesque, May 8, 2015
But you're right, as per my original thread, the gear's dear, & you do need at least a sporran to make it a true kilt. - Faldaesque, May 8, 2015
A decent quality costume costs £500-£1,000, but it lasts a lifetime, so it's a good investment & you should remember you can go to the toilet while still drinking your beer... ;-) - Faldaesque, May 8, 2015
You can get a plain skirt at Walmart for about $20. The kilt makers are making a killing. - Daniela2041, May 9, 2015

These Hungarian shepherds of horses have not a skirt but wide pants, but it seems very similar to a skirt.

Porcupine7's picture reminded me of the "gi" worn by practitioners of Aikido. It's called a "hakama" and is a divided skirt. I know a few of the moves but I don't have the gi. This is the sport practiced by 7th degree black belt. Steven Segal.

Aren't they "Culottes" ? - ray76, May 9, 2015
The French might call them that, but a Japanese might kick him in the (****). Actually the culote was a divided skirt which went to the knee and was popular with the women in the Wild West days of the US. I think some women might still wear them. - Daniela2041, May 9, 2015
I have seen the smaller version that are popular now. - ray76, May 10, 2015

Sweden - male train drivers wear skirts after shorts row.

Video

A dozen male train drivers in Sweden have circumvented a ban on shorts by wearing skirts to work in hot weather.

"To tell them to do something else would be discrimination."

Again, with a skirt this short, about all you can do in it is pose. I am talking about something more comfortable and useful, and designed to fit the male frame, sort of like the knee-length "tunic" in Bible-based movies or even the kilts - Daniela2041, May 9, 2015
that the soldiers in my pictures are wearing. I think that even the sarongs that the male Samoans wear look cool- and they are fully functional. - Daniela2041, May 9, 2015
I take umbrage to that , posing is only one of the exciting things that can be done in this gear ;) - ray76, May 9, 2015
