Lo correcto es " Buenos días " - britisk, Apr 21, 2014
You are right, Britisk :) - FELIZ77, Apr 22, 2014
thanks guys. Sorry I didn't catch that sooner. :) - actorgirl, Apr 22, 2014
thank you for translating - abdulbinasad, Apr 22, 2014
For "Good afternoon" it is Buenas tardes. - Esteban3304, Apr 23, 2014
Oh, and if you are going to use "!" after "tardes", then you really shoud put "¡" before "Buenas". - Esteban3304, Apr 23, 2014
very good answer but el día is a boy (sustantivo masculino) so it is buenos días and tarde and noche are both girls (sustantivos femininos) so buenas tardes y buenas noches - 00b055e0, Apr 23, 2014
I am extremely confused here. The translator said buenAS días. - actorgirl, Apr 23, 2014
no dear AG ,, even the translator says buenos días .. dont be confused .. día is always a guy not a girl (I mean it is a masculine noun) ,, it is el día not la día ,, so u cant use the feminine inflection of the adjective bueno - 00b055e0, Apr 23, 2014

It should be BuenOs Días (masculine) = Good morning

Buenas tardes (feminine)= Good afternoon /evening

Buenas noches (feminine) =Good night which is said as people go to bed.

The Spanish also use buenas as a greeting by itself to mean = Hello

I hope this helps :smile

Te amo - I love you

te quiero - I love you

te quiero mucho - I love you very much.

Gracias - thank you. (that was for Jimmy, even though he already knows what it is. smile)

You can look up these things in the translator smile

I would just like to respond to Actor girl's post.

Te quiero is much more commonly used to mean = I love you.

It is used between friends, members of the family and boyfriend and girkfriend in Spain and I think also South America, too!

The verb amar is much less common except:

1 in literary works eg poetry ,

2 between two people involved in an intimate but long-term relationship eg husband and wife and ...

3 used to express love towards God and worship him in evangelical circles. (I cannot possibly comment on catholic practices.)

I hope this clarifies the issue! smile
