"Hace una pregunta" is translation for "She asks a question" can someone explain me usage of hace ??

Yes. Hace una pregunta = She asks a question. That is one of the usages of the verb hacer.

Take a look to the conjugation of the verb here and you'll be able to use it properly. For example, the present indicative tense:

  • Yo hago una pregunta.
  • haces una pregunta.
  • Él / Ella hace una pregunta.
  • Nosotros hacemos una pregunta.
  • Vosotros hacéis una pregunta.
  • Ellos hacen una pregunta.

Usually you'll find hacer meaning to do or to make but it can be to build, to take, to play .... Look at this useful translation tool.

Further to Relaxing Cup's very nice answer: in English we ask questions but in Spanish 'preguntando una pregunta' would sound rather strange so instead, in Spanish, one 'makes' a question which is also quite logical, and hacer is used to express this.

Ella hace una pregunta. She asks a question.
