500 Verbs - Present, Past, Past, Future:

Let's practice Spanish Verbs - Will we make it to 'zurcir'?

Remember to:

Let's keep it simple.

Use the verb in its simplest form:

subject + verb (you may choose any subject but use it consistently):

Post 1 present, 1 past preterit, 1 past imperfect, 1 future.

Use the conjugation tool (blue toolbar - top of page) to learn and check yourself.

Encourage others with a vote for their persistence.

Optional: Use an image if you like to remember the verb's meaning & here's a link for formatting tricks. Use a Vocaroo if you want to practice saying each of them. Add flashcards if you'd like. Vocaroo link for pronunciation practice

List S Satisfacer - to satisfy, to please, to quench

Satisfacer is a completely irregular verb and also a very common one. Below is a link if you want more information on satisfacer.

Info on satisfacer

Satisfacemos. - We satisfy.
Satisfacimos. - We satisfied.
Satisfacíamos. - We were satisfying.
Satisfaceríamos. - We would satisfy.
Satisfaceremos. - We will satisfy.

Es imposible satisfacer a todos.
It's impossible to satisfy everyone.

sangrar - to bleed

List S - other uses (such as - to indent) can be found at this link SD translations

sangráis - you-all bleed (familiar plural)

sangrasteis - you-all bled

sangrabais - you-all were bleeding or you-all used to bleed

sangraréis - you-all will bleed

Irregular in the 1st Pers. Preterit - All Present Subjunctive forms, and Imperitive forms of Ud/Uds.

salpico - I splash

salpiqué - I splashed

salpicaba - I was splashing or I used to splash [Identical to 3rd pers. forms - use pronouns or context to identify the intended meaning]

salpicaré - I will splash

salpicaría - I would splash [Identical to 3rd pers. forms . . .]

saltear - to sauté(fry lightly);

List S . . . may also be used to mean: to rob - take by surprise!

saltea - he/she sautés, you sauté (formal)

salteó - he/she/you sautéed

salteaba - he/she/you were sautéing orhe/she/you used to saute [Ist pers. sing. identical - use context or pronouns to clarify meaning.]

salteará - he/she/you will sauté

salteará - he/she /you would sauté [1st pers. sing. conditional identical. . .]

El chef haya salteado las setas. ~ The chef has sautéed the mushrooms.

List S - salir - to go out; to leave

*note that this verb has many, many meanings.

Site seems to be working again.

Irregular 'go' verb in 'yo' form of the present tense. Also totally irregular in the conditional and future tenses.

Salgo. - I go out.

Salí. - I left.

Salía. - I used to go out.

Saldré. - I will go out.

Saldría. - I would leave.

sacudir - to shake, shock(shake up)

List S-1. . . sacudir also can mean to beat a rug, spank/punish a child or beat-up someone

sacudes - you shake or shake up (familiar)

sacudiste - you shook or shook up

sacudías - you were shaking (up) or used to shake (up)

sacudirás - you will shake (up)

sacudirías - you would shake (up)

Verbs that end in car change c to qu in the preterite yo form.

Saco. - I take out.
Sacqué. - I took out.
Sacaba. - I was taking out, used to take out, took out.
Sacaría. I would take out.
Sacaré. - I will take out.

recomenzar - to begin again

List R

Irregular in "the boot" ie. the Singular forms and 3rd Pers Plural. of Present tense in both the Indicative and Subjunctive. Behaves in manner similar to recomendar - . . . . recommend you review previous entry . . .

recomienzo - I begin again

recomencé - I began again

recomenzaba - I was beginning again or I used to begin again [ use context or pronouns to distinguish between identical 1st and 3rd Pers. Sing.]

recomenzaré - I will begin again

recomenzaría - I would begin again [ use context or pronouns to distinguish between identical 1st and 3rd Pers. Sing.]

Verbs that end in a vowel + -cer or -cir add z before the c in the yo form.

Reconocemos. - We recognize.
Reconocimos. - We recognized.
Reconocíamos. - We were recognizing.
Reconoceríamos. - We would recognize.
