What are the differences between acudir y llegar when talking about arrive?

I think that acudir is more often used when one goes or arrives/shows up in response to an invitation, a call, to attend a prearranged appointment, meeting etc. Whereas llegar is just the general verb for arriving. But I'll be interested to see the other comments that you receive.
