“la cariña de papá”

This can only be in masculine, cariño, for both boys and girls.

"Cariña" has a completely different meaning:

cariña.

  1. adj. Se dice del individuo de un pueblo amerindio que habita entre los límites de los Estados de Anzoátegui, Monagas y Bolívar, al este de Venezuela. U. t. c. s.

  2. adj. Perteneciente o relativo a los cariña.

  3. m. Lengua de filiación caribe que hablan los cariña.

Hola ejs385

I think that it has to do with the [apelativo cariñoso] which denotes something special, dear, or darling too.

In which case the daughter becomes age specific. As daddy’s baby girl she would be: “la neñita de papá”. As an older girl she would become: “la hijita de papá”. I’ve even heard some refered to as “la cariña de papá”…like, daddys darling little girl.

Hope this helps. There are 19 Spanish speaking countries…many having there own “coloquialismos”. This is mostly speculative...just listening to the Spanish native speakers.

Hi there. Here's a link to a previous discussion on here about that. Hope you're able to pull something from it.
