¿Qué significa "pégate" en inglés?

I'm not sure what "pégate" means in one of my favorite songs, Pégate por Grupo Treo. I know pegar can mean to hit, stick, or fight, but it just seems funny to me that the song would be called something like "hit yourself"... haha. I think there's a more colloquial meaning to it, I just don't know what that is. Any help? Gracias!

Hi Kkingdrew. "Pégate" is used in many popular songs like the one you mentioned (another popular one now is called "Pégate más"). It means something like "come close (to dance)" in this colloquial context. Here's the full entry on pegar, the meanings that reinforce this interpretation are:

  • 1 To join one thing to another with cement or viscous matter.
  • 2 To join, to unite, to sew one thing with another.
  • 3 To close or apply closely two things.

Interesting question. Welcome to the forum!
