Welcome to the forum, Cherry.

"Hervir" is an irregular verb.

"Hierva" is the correct conjugation. Look here at the imperative mode.

Small detail, Guillermo: "hierba" is not the same as "hierva"! ;-) - Gekkosan, Jan 23, 2012
Pero se escribe con la "v," así: hierva. - tejanajo, Jan 23, 2012
Opps. I know that. My bad. I guess I've read many books in English over the last 10 years and not as many in Spanish. Luckily I already have "Caballo de Troya 9" in my house, which has like 1200 pages in Spanish and I will get started with it pretty soon. - 00e657d4, Jan 23, 2012
I've occasionally run into native-Spanish speakers who swap their v's and b's in words (e.g. baca for vaca, etc.) - Xocoyote, Jan 23, 2012
I usually don't. I pride myself in being pretty much 100% error free in Spanish spelling and grammar.. - 00e657d4, Jan 23, 2012
@Xocoyote: Spanish speakers generally do not make a distinction between the pronunciation of "v" and "b". In writing, however, the difference is not only required, but important. In this particular case, "hierva" and "hierba" mean different things. - Gekkosan, Jan 23, 2012

Hello Cherryl, welcome to the Forum.

Normally I'd invite you to try the Translate tool available at the top of this page - however it's currently not working correctly.

You may also try Google Translate to get quick answers for simple translations.

In any event, "Boil the water" (Infinitive) is: Hervir el Agua.

"Hierva el agua" in in the imperative mode, as in providing an instruction.
