how do i change tener in the preterit

Question

i cant figure out how to translate tener into the preterit but i can put it in the imperfect and present

Tener can be a really confusing verb in the preterite. All it's forms are listed here in a reference article about the preterite tense. The most important thing to remember is that Tener uses all the regular endings (without accent marks) and takes out "en" and puts "uv" in its place.
