"3:00 in the morning"

Question

How do you refer to 1:00 2:00 3:00 4:00 5:00 am tres de la manana? or tres de la madrugada? or tres de la noche? El bebe nacio a las tres de la madrugada?

1. early morning (noche)

las tres de la madrugada -> three in the morning 

If you were trying to say a.m., however, I would use de la mañana.

If you want to say, "it is 3:00 in the morning":

Son las tres de la mañana.

If you want to say, "at 3:00 in the morning":

A las tres de la mañana.

For your sentence:

El bebé nació a las tres de la mañana.

or, from what I understand, for a girl:

La bebé nació a las tres de la mañana.

¡Hola ahbuela! I was taught to say "a las tres de mañana" or "a las tres a.m." Apparently a.m. & p.m. have been widely adopted in modern Spanish. Pronounced ah-ay'may and pay-ay'may. However, I am only a student, so you may want to wait for a native to weigh in with their advice.

I'm amazed at how many people say '3 a.m. in the morning'. I imagine they also use their PIN numbers to get cash out of ATM machines...

If you want to be technical, say

"Son las tres de la mañana."

I am not sure if I used the blockquote right. Anyway, if you want to use it in a sentence and be practical, say "A las tres de la mañana.".
